The Bicycle Alliance is powered by VOLUNTEERS
We work for you, but also, we NEED you. We need advocates in every county across the state.
We have an ongoing need for office volunteers: data entry, filing and other tasks always
need to get done. Our annual auction would not happen without over 100 people giving generously
of their time. And there are always special tasks for special skills that can help the
cause of bicycling in Washington. Your skill can help bicyclists across the state!
Want to help out? Please complete a volunteer application and email it to
volunteer@bicyclealliance.org.
Then plan on attending an orientation (orientations are held during the first 30 minutes of
every Month-End Work Party).
You will receive more information on the orientation in response to your completed application email.
Volunteer Spotlight
Whenever you read The Advocate, our quarterly newsletter, you're reading a product that
Jennifer Kogut
has had her creative hands on. An editor by profession, Jennifer has edited our publication as a
volunteer for over six years.
Jennifer is a Seattle native who has also spent time living in the south of France as a
student and with her grandmother. She was first introduced to the Bicycle Alliance by former staff member
Mark Canizaro. Besides serving as our newsletter editor, Jennifer has helped with month end work parties
and she and husband Jeff have volunteered at our annual auction.
"Besides being a fun group of people to be around, I wholeheartedly support the Bicycle Alliance's goals,"
stated Jennifer. "Bicycling is an essential form of transportation and I love seeing the progress that we've made.
There are more cyclists out there, new trails, and drivers are becoming more aware and accepting of
bicycles as vehicles on our streets," she added.
Asked if she had a favorite volunteer moment, Jennifer acknowledged that she enjoys editing
The Advocate because language is one of her passions. However, she added, her favorite moments
have occurred at the auction because it's such a fun event.
When she's not working as a copy editor, Jennifer devotes her energies to many hobbies-including
knitting and photography. She has donated some of her fine handknits to the auction.
Jennifer also enjoys riding her bike, and has spent many weekends riding with her husband as he trains for STP.
